I would love to know what everyone else thinks.
So my mother in law came over today completely unannounced and when I went to get the door she handed me my daughter's sippy cup that I accidentally left over at her house on Sunday. Her house is 30 minutes from mine so that's quite a drive just to give me back a sippy cup when my daughter has a lot of those but anyway, I told her she could step inside because she was just talking to me and it was really hot outside so she stepped in the house and talked some more and out of the blue she told me she was going to my bathroom. She went walking that way to the bathroom so fast that I didn't even get a chance to tell her it may be messy (wasn't expecting company) she was there maybe 10 seconds. I heard the toilet flush and she came walking out real fast. She didn't even wash her hands. They were dry when she came out. I know she didn't go in there to go to the bathroom! No way! Every time she comes over she has to use the bathroom. EVERY TIME! just so everyone knows me and my husband and renting from her. She bought us the house and we're paying her back. Why would she go into the bathroom every time she comes over? It's so weird! It's not like her visits are real long and when we're at her house I've never noticed her going up the stairs to use her bathroom when we're there all day! Anyone know??? I need thoughts.

The thing is, because you guys did use her help to get the house, she feels entitled. That's the problem with controlling parents. When you take from them, you will always feel trapped because they helped you. It's unfortunate. My mother in law's mother does that to her and now she has no life. And if you tell her anything about not coming over uninvited, she might tell you it's her house until you pay her back. Unless your husband really makes it known to her and gives her a clear message about it, she will continue.

@scarapella1, yeah, I've told him multiple times and he just doesn't care. 🙄

@_amandahiatt, omg that's s little out there. I think s wedding should be special not a costume party. That's pretty messed up. How are you not going to ask your own brother to be in your wedding. Does he know how you feel?

@scarapella1, his whole family is nuts! His brother had a Robin Hood themed wedding🙄 if that's not bad enough he didn't ask his one and only brother to be a groomsmen but he had 4 of his friends as groomsmen. They are all just insane. My husband is the only somewhat normal one in that family besides the fact that he can't seem to refrain from telling his parents our marital responsibilities

That's ok!! I don't mind at all. We all need a place to vent!

Wow!! They really sound like they are nuts. They really need to let their children be grown ups and stay out of their business. I am sorry you have to deal with this. I am really at a loss for words. That's just plain crazy.

@scarapella1, sorry for the rant, it just pisses me off and I need to blow off steam somewhere or I'm going to end up snapping at his parents.

@scarapella1, he has a younger brother and they do the same stuff for him. He just got married last week. His wife is in for it. His dad told me that they picked out a house and he told them they couldn't have that one. That is legit none of their business! And then when they started painting the inside and everything they wanted to do, his mom ran to me and told me just being rude about their decisions. I'm pretty sure she's gossiping and lying about me behind my back. That's how she is. I don't trust her.

@scarapella1, sometimes I feel like she's the wife and I'm just a hoe on the side. It's that crazy.

@_amandahiatt, does he have any other siblings? Just curious if he is the only one. Omg, I would belike that's really none of your business. We aren't best friends. She is really in your business! I would just play nice when she is around. I don't know how long I could pretend though.

@scarapella1, no, she doesn't want to let go of him. His dad is the same way. They are forgetting he's married now and he's not a little boy. His mom had the nerve to ask me if I was on birth control right after I had my daughter like she's my best friend and she needs to know everything. I can't stand that woman, we are far from friends! 😫

@_amandahiatt, ok. That's really hard then. I would only ask my parents for help as a last resort. If there is a problem my husband and I have to figure if out. Sounds like his mom doesn't want to let him go so she keeps doing stuff for him. I agree with you. You are his family and you should work together on stuff like that.

@scarapella1, yes! He freakin feeds her! We get in squabbles all the time. Our air conditioning unit is going out at this house and my husband told his parents about it and they said they would pay for us a new one and they can just add that to the mortgage. They think we constantly need their help. We don't. My husband runs to his parents over everything. He wrecked his car 2 years ago and they went with him and bought him a new one. He's spoiled. They need to realize he's 26 almost. He's not 5. He has his own family now and he's married!

@angelicsexton, ugh!!! Sometimes I wish I could divorce her instead of my husband! She's so annoying! She reminds me of a fly! 😫

@_amandahiatt, damn. She sounds like a real piece of work. My mother in law is just like that. She basically tried to plan our wedding. She called my florist and asked about my order and so on and so forth. She makes plan to see the kids and cancels last minute or no shows. If you guys are paying her then she needs to stop being so nosy. That's horrible she hasn't bought her own granddaughter anything. I am really sorry you have to deal with that. Does you husband just let her poke her nose in your business?

@_amandahiatt, By the way, she was defiantly snooping! It's in her nature (I've swear I've totally got one of those mother in-laws) LoL

@_amandahiatt, 😂 Wow... we sound like we have the same mother-in law!! 🙈 It has taken me 6 years to really bite my tongue and pray about not snapping... it doesn't get any better. If anything I think we are being tested! All I can advise is keep your cool and change the conversation as soon as she try's to butt in on anything she has no place

@scarapella1, oh and she's not bought my daughter one thing since she's been born except a really cheap hat she probably got from goodwill and my daughter is 16 mo. She doesn't owe my daughter anything but it's just strange. She's one and only grandchild and she's not poor.

@scarapella1, she's one of those mother in laws that loves to tell me how to raise my child, she loves to be "in control" she gossips to me about people in her church, she never helped pay for my wedding and she invited a whole bunch of people from her church after I told her I just wanted it to be close family. My parents had to pay for everything and she invited people I didn't even know/want there, she treats my husband( her son) like he's 5, she sticks her nose into our finances all the time. I could go on and on. I get along with her to her face but she really pisses me off with they way she acts.

That's definitely odd. I was going to saw looking for meds or just being really nosey. Do you get along with her?

@_amandahiatt
I could see thay
Deleted·
@tamrynstephens, she does it everytime she comes over. It never fails. Me and my mom both think she's nibbing because we're renting from her and she feels the need to make sure we aren't messing up the house when we're paying her back. We aren't even late on any payments.

@krprincipe, there's no medicine in the cabinets. Well gas x maybe. But no prescriptions. It's just really weird.

@xochaos, well that's what my mom said. She thinks she's checking everything out.

Not to be rude or anything, but I had a friend who's sister in law would do this. She was stealing meds from my friends parents cabinets
