I would love to know what everyone else thinks.
So my mother in law came over today completely unannounced and when I went to get the door she handed me my daughter's sippy cup that I accidentally left over at her house on Sunday. Her house is 30 minutes from mine so that's quite a drive just to give me back a sippy cup when my daughter has a lot of those but anyway, I told her she could step inside because she was just talking to me and it was really hot outside so she stepped in the house and talked some more and out of the blue she told me she was going to my bathroom. She went walking that way to the bathroom so fast that I didn't even get a chance to tell her it may be messy (wasn't expecting company) she was there maybe 10 seconds. I heard the toilet flush and she came walking out real fast. She didn't even wash her hands. They were dry when she came out. I know she didn't go in there to go to the bathroom! No way! Every time she comes over she has to use the bathroom. EVERY TIME! just so everyone knows me and my husband and renting from her. She bought us the house and we're paying her back. Why would she go into the bathroom every time she comes over? It's so weird! It's not like her visits are real long and when we're at her house I've never noticed her going up the stairs to use her bathroom when we're there all day! Anyone know??? I need thoughts.

The thing is, because you guys did use her help to get the house, she feels entitled. That's the problem with controlling parents. When you take from them, you will always feel trapped because they helped you. It's unfortunate. My mother in law's mother does that to her and now she has no life. And if you tell her anything about not coming over uninvited, she might tell you it's her house until you pay her back. Unless your husband really makes it known to her and gives her a clear message about it, she will continue.
