@babyboy1117, I am currently on wic and I worked for wic years ago but they still use income guidelines. Why would they provide formula and milk, etc for anyone over income? It's a program to help keep women infant and children healthy that are low income. Otherwise they would just issue everyone a wic card that got pregnant.
@babyboy1117, it's not illegal. At least not here in Ohio. I used to work for WIC and it's most def based on income. I had to turn away quite a bit of people for making too much. Just like the food stamp program, if you make too much you don't qualify. Maybe military is different tho.
Well it's still completely illegal for them to deny the formula so if you really need it, you should try them, if they tell you no you need to report it.
Where I live wic is like food stamps. One thing they ask is if I'm getting food stamps or Medicare and I do so I'm automatically accepted. But yes it is based on income
I'm having a hard time believing this because when my aunt had wic her income was $3,000 a month, maybe you should try another office. They also, by law, can absolutely not deny you formula for any reason, they could be charged with criminal negligence by letting your baby starve after you've asked then for help.
@keelygeedy thats ridiculous by law they cant. Personally I'd be taking them to court over it. Do you have different wic locations in your area to apply at those?
Where I live they can decline you and will do so! They don't care if you even make a dollar above their amount and have a health problem. @hanahmarie2183
@keelygeedy wic cant decline your eligibility over income in any state. I know this because we are military and i get wic for our 4 year old, 8 month old and myself becauae I'm pregnant. The income bs they are telling you are lies.
They can also do emergency formula distribution. My aunt had to do that a couple times, she went to the office and told them she didn't have money for formula and they gave her two large containers.
Any person with a child is eligible for wic. Especially a 4 month old while pregnant. They pay specifically for things like formula. You should contact them again.

@babyboy1117 I'm curious as to where you go your information about it being illegal? Source?

You can most definitely be denied for wic based on income. Income is a major requirment for the program.

Where I live it is the exact same way. They ask the exact same thing and if you are not getting them they ask for proof of your income.
