Advice needed! Sorry in advance for being so long!
My fiancé has never been too close to his family, especially his dad and stepmom. I got pregnant very early on in our relationship so didn't have a lot of time to get to know anyone as just a girlfriend. My fiancé said his dad and stepmom never came to any apartment he has lived at or tried to spend time with him but since having our daughter they want us to come over or ask if they can stop by quite often. The part I'm annoyed with is his stepmom ALWAYS texts me and asks about the plans. Idk if they try to contact him at all anymore. I feel like it shouldn't be my responsibility to make plans with his family all the time! It sounds kinda bad but idk if they would be making an effort if it wasn't for my daughter or what. He gets mad that they were never there for him until recently so he doesn't really care about spending time with them. Idk what to do when they text me to do stuff but I know he doesn't want to. Just wondering if anyone has been in a similar situation? I want my daughter to know her grandparents and for them to enjoy time with her too!
The only thing I can say is that you should go with your gut on this. But do be aware that they may become "disinterested" in your daughter like they seem to be with your fiancé. It's horrible to think about but it's a reality. My ex had a similar issue with his mom. She lost interest in my daughter (her grandchild) within a couple years of her birth.
Yesterday I went out with my boyfriend went to watch a movie, me and him don't live together yet. but point is yesterday when he was dropping me off his like sleep over at my house witch the mom and dad lives. I said no,
his response was why is everyone deciding or making choices for you and their going to do the same with the baby, when I know that's not true. what he thinks is that my mom tells me not to sleep over. So he left all mad. and I felt in my heart that he went on and cheated on me...
@itsamemario, you deleted your post before I could hit send but this is my comment: I don’t know if this answers your question but this is my answer.
My son is 7 and he knows race and color. Why? Because he himself comes from a family that is multi racial and because he has already experienced racism. I also believe as his mother it’s my job to teach him color and the cold hard truth about society. He knows what’s going on in this world. I’d be hurting him if I allowed him to blindly walk out...

My husband has a good relationship with his parents, but his mom texts me more often than him, and usually contacts me to make the plans.
Idk about the rest of your situation, but I think in most relationships the wife makes the plans for things like this, with both sides of the family.
