Hello! I'm Jess, 37 weeks pregnant & ready to have this baby. I live in the OC, CA with my husband & our two fur babies. We are just loving life & impatiently waiting for baby boys arrival!
@mermaidmeshy, oh wow I can't imagine! Though I am SO ready to have this little boy asap! My doc is also out of Saddleback, Dr Otoole at OCWMG love her! Glad to hear your sweet baby is okay though!!
My experience was probably different than most... I had my daughter 7 weeks early.
IV and ice chips only for me.
I went in on a Monday evening because my mucus plug came out, but I kept leaking.... My water had broken. By Thursday I was discharged.
My little one was in NICU for 3 weeks exactly. She's doing fantastic though. And I cannot say how much I appreciate every single nurse there. L&D nurses and NICU nurses.
My OB was also from saddleback, so she was there quickly and helped keep me calm.
My personal experience sucked in that she was 7 weeks early, but if it weren't for the wonderful staff and the individual rooms, I would have lost my mind.
@mermaidmeshy, so glad to hear it! Did they allow you to eat/drink during labor? Or force you to have IV?
Hey there! I'm in Mission Viejo myself! Not too far away from you! Welcome!
@jessashley mine is Dr Yu (pronounced like YOU) It was funny because a few times someone would say "YOU approved it." (Basically starting a 'Who's on first' situation) and I'd have to correct them... "No not YOU, Dr Yu, as in my OBGYN".
Take what you can, ask for the nurses, don't feel like a burden, and joke around with them. They're seriously cool.
Thanks. I know my situation was way different, but even if it hadn't been, they and the hospital was still awesome.
Oh, when they say don't bring your own breast pump, they mean it. They give you a set of the medela symphony pumping kit. I had to rent the pump they have at the hospital because my daughter has a cleft soft palate and cannot create suction to breastfeed. (Yet another story about her birth and why it's atypical). Take advantage of everything, take it all home!
