I have a midwife. I had an ob with my first two and loved my doctor with my first born. My second was a military baby and had a different doctor every time. This time around I started off with a doctor bc I had to wait till my insurance kicked in to switch to a midwife. My doctor absolutely sucked and did the bare minimum for my pregnancy. Once I switched to my midwife, they ordered tests that my doc never bothered to order and were a lot more informative. They really go out of their way to make my experience feel very personable and like they are truly invested. I really wanted a home birth and sadly no one does that here, but I'm still Loving my experience with the midwives
I see a nurse midwife... so it's kind of the best of both worlds... they have a medical background, but have a more laid back approach to pregnancy and birth... and my midwives all collaborate with a group of OBGYN's about each patient, so if complications do arise transitioning to the OBGYN's care is seamless because they are already up to speed on your pregnancy! I love my midwives, they really make me feel like my input matters, and really listen to what I say, give me more information about tests that they run... it's been a really wonderful process!
