How much milk should I be pumping at 5 days after birth ? My milk came in on Wednesday.
@cubanese, I did she said she had a latch actually I just don't think I'm doing good with bf her
I started pumping since my sons birth, it made my milk supply come in faster so by the time he latched, which was two days after birth, he was getting 2-3 ounces from breast and then the rest in his feeding tube when I wasn't there in NICU. And pumping helps you build up a decent supply. If you have more questions, I'd personally consult a lactation consultant. I had my doctor and lactation nurse help me.
@cubanese understood wish I would have known about the wait to pump rule .
Yes I was gonna mention the pumping early but wasn't sure so didn't want to give misinformation @cubanese but @zrivera22 dont let that stop u . you both are learning . I suggest visiting your wic location & getting hands on help ....my lactation nurse was a GOD SEND I wouldn't have been able to bf . she kept me encouraged
@momofdeuce, I'm getting discourage it may be because she not latching on properly.
@cubanese, I don't think she's latching on properly. And my mom said I should start pumping.
That's good from what I know now your body only pumps what babies need .
I didnt know that at first and forced myself to try to get 5 oz which discouraged me because I thought I wasnt pumping enough .
Now that I know what I didnt know then I'm going into bf with a whole new set of eyes & goal
@cubanese, thank you. I didn't think should be pumping I did pump because my breast was in pain from the milk.
I talked to my aunt whose had 3 kids that were all Breastfed she said that everything that I'm describing sounds normal and that breastfeeding can be hard I just have to work with the baby
My problem was that she falls asleep on the breast while I'm feeding her and then I take her off she wakes up hungry again. So I thought I was overfeeding her. For some reason.
