I got mine around 7 centimeters and yes that is very painful contractions & when I got it I was in heaven best thing ever didnt feel a thing

You can get it as soon as they admit you in I believe but I would reccomend waiting some time (just my opinion) because sometimes epidural stall labors and slows down the process. But its all up to you mama

I got an epidural it was the best thing ever . I tried doing it without but was sooo tired and hadnt been to sleep at all I was up since 430 in the morning and got the epidural at around 2 the next morning ....Im getting an epidural this time around too
They stick you with a big ass needle (I didn't look at the needle because I hate being stuck) but they have you sit on the bed hunching kinda leaning forward . they stick the needle in your back . you'll feel a little pressure/pain but nothing compared to the pain your feeling from the contractions . oh & the have to put a catheter in you because you can't get up to pee
I had an epidural with all my kids... But the last child my legs felt very numb more than my belly n private area. But they adjust it then it was ok. Even my water broke the contractions hit very very hard n the epidural was a blessing but slowed the progress of labor with all my kids but they came out ok
