Fun fact:
Thresh: Blisters/infection in the mouth. This infection is painful to them, so if you notice it take them to the doctor bc there is a way to get rid of it even though its hard to prevent.
Cause: Hard to pin point, and not really avoidable. Mostly caused by irratation, or possible bacteria on pasifiers or bottle nipples.
What it looks like: White covering the tounge and/or inner mouth. May be mistaken as milk residue.
How to tell if your baby has thresh: take a warm wash cloth (or cold if your babys teething) and wipe off their gums, and any part of their mouth that is covered in white. If it doesnt come off then its thresh.
Other ways to tell if your baby has thresh: They have a face of pain while bottle feeding. They scream at random times and wont stop. (Itll sound like theyre in pain) Your baby gets mad, and starts crying while trying to nurse.
Ways to reduce the risk of them getting it again: while its impossible to fully prevent it, there are ways to reduce the risk of them having it again. Every 24 hrs sanitze any pacifiers your baby may use (boil them). Sanitize every bottle you use at least every other feeding, and sanitize the nipple every feeding.
The reality is that this is NOT preventable to 100%. Even taking precautions your baby can still get it. Some babys never get it and some get it at random. You dont do anything wrong for them to get it, it just happens. So if your baby gets thresh take them to the doctor and the medicene they will give your baby for it will start showing results in the first 2 doses. Trust me i know bc my baby has it.
