Is anybody else out there having they're first baby, and is DETERMINED to breastfeed?

Like I heard it can be hard, but I really want to make it work!

I am a 1st time mom and I was able to breastfeed my daughter for a month. It was hard. I was really upset when I had to switch over to formula. I was not able to produce enough milk to keep up with my growing daughter. It was also a struggle to breastfeed because my daughter could only latch on with a nipple shield, even after seeing a lactation consultant. I am thankful for the little bit of time I was able to breastfeed my daughter.

Have alot of support from wic or your baby's doc. And dont be nervous to breast feed in public, also they feed alot at first i was told every 3 or 2 hours but she ended up lossing so much weight so if she or he is crying dont be scared to try to feed

@m_phillips_s That's awesome you got through everything, that's all I can hope for. Like I understand it's going to be hard, but I'm not going to give up Everytime something doesn't work out either.

@skyeelizabethgettle i agree completely. Just dont let it get you down whatever the outcome. I got mastitis the 2nd week i was home. I had a moment i got really sick and my storage as well as my milk. I felt like i couldnt satisfy my baby. But we over came it all. So can you!

@m_phillips_s Yeah, I really want to breast feed, but even if that doesn't work for us I really want to at least pump and give it to him. I don't have anything against formula, I just really want all the benefits that comes along with breast milk.

It is hard but worth it. My son is 5mo now and we had lots of ups and downs, smiles and tears. But dont beat yourself up if it doesnt work, things happen and though breast is best, fed is best is more important.

@jdgregg I've heard of women who just can't breast feed, and I'm hoping and praying that I'm not one of them. I'm 37weeks and already have to wear nursing pads from how much I am leaking. So I just hope they just keep doing they're thing until after my baby comes lol

Some women simply can't breastfeed. But there are lactation consultants and folks like that who offer bf education, they will see you in office or at your home if you are more comfortable with that. Ive been told the key is to relax and not get too stressed about it. Alternatively (not that I feel comfortable with it at all but is still an option for some) there are groups of moms all over facebook who trade breast milk or will pump while not at home like for work or what ever and donate it to moms who are having troubles or not producing.
