I need to vent. I live in a nearly all-white, conservative town. My daughter and I meet a lot of moms at baby events and play areas. I find that a lot of white moms have a very short, polite, and obligatory conversation with me, almost like they are trying to say the bare minimum, but then they turn around to another white mom (who has the same-age, same-sex baby as mine, and who they have also never met before) and they have a very warm and intimate, back-and-forth conversation. I am careful about hygiene, politeness, and the way I dress myself and daughter so I know it's not that. Honestly tired of being snubbed and wondering if this is the world my daughter is going to grow up in. Not all moms are this way and I have a few white mom friends who don't treat me as lesser, but it's a hurtful encounter when I do have to put up with this. I feel like black moms have it even worse, especially in a mostly white town, and it makes me mad.
