Hey all, so my sister in law is freaking out a bit, going to see if anyone can shed some light. We measured her fundal height, she is 24 weeks and only measured 14in. Should she be worried ? She looks like a normal size but now she is worried because she's measuring so small. Does anyone have any advice I could give her ?

I thought it seemed weird because I think she's actually pretty big and when we measured I was like ... Huh? We have to be doing something wrong !

No worries, I understand why the 14 inches would have caused her to panic a little! But that is what were all here for, pregnancy and being a mother to little one's can be stressful it's nice to have some support no matter how many times you've gone through it all!

You are supposed to measure in centimeters not inches. You start at the top of the uterus and measure down to the pubic bone. One cm for every week.

@brbsmomma She doesn't want to be one of those people who run to the doctor for nothing, she's not having any bad symptoms or anything I just wanted to get other people's thoughts so I could ease her mind a little

That's what I was thinking too because if someone is big to start out with they aren't going to measure right and same thing if you are small. I would only see that guideline working for people who are of average weight

I was small when i was pregnant with my first and im small nOw. I think it matters how tiny or what before your pregnancy. MY first was born at 5 pounds 9 ounces and only a week early

If she's really worried she should call and be seen, but in my personal experience I measured small through my whole pregnancy and the only thing that came of it was lots of nsts at the end.

@haley-lamb that's what I was thinking too. But she compares her bump to mine when I was pregnant but we are w different people. Mine was more out and her is more wide but i told her the baby could be laying in a bad position for measuring too

@beebaby I did, not the doctor. They told her they were going to measure her at her next appt so she was curious as to what she was measuring

@brbsmomma They haven't started measuring her yet and her last appointment was about a month ago so she's not sure what they are going to say, she doesn't know if this is normal or not. But her next appt is a couple weeks away.

That's what I looked like when I gave birth, my baby was 6 lbs 6 oz. if her doctors aren't worried then I wouldn't worry too much either
