So Davyn has been eating baby food for the past couple weeks but after every bite he sticks his hands in his mouth! Is there any way to break him if this? I would need 5 hands to try to feed him and hold his hands back at the same time.
Put a little on his tray. He is putting his fingers in his mouth to explore what you are giving him. If you put some on his tray, you can control (somewhat) the amount of mess and he can still meet his developmental need to explore new things.
Definitely some food for though! I appreciate your input @scidg3, :) I had to stalk your page a little. Triplets?!? I cannot imagine
There are days when if I don't let mine play/explore their food it won't go in their mouth but the more they are allowed to play with it the more that ends up in their mouth each time. I feel 6 months is prime time, but I am one for BLW.....to each their own. Mine just turned 1 and they had a blast exploring their cakes 😋😵😂 @whitneyp
@scidg3, I do agree to an extent. For something new, yes. Absolutely. As I introduce new stages of food, I'm going to let him play with it. But this has been a few weeks and I don't want him getting in the habit of playing with his food all the time.
Why? I feel like babies should be allowed to play with food when they are exploring foods.... Imagine having something new and only being allowed to touch it with your mouth. Everything else they touch with their hands.... Just be ready with a wash cloth..... Ikea has an amazing bib too @whitneyp
@danielleandco, is makes SUCH a mess! I didn't even think about trying to occupy his hands but will give it a try
@charong, thank you! That's a great idea. I will try that next time he eats
Lol my son does the same thing it's quite possibly the most annoying thing 😂 I give him something to hold like a bib
Lol @whitneyp yup! If you could see the messes I clean!! 😅 They keep me busy but I wouldn't have it any other way!! Tonight we did dinner outside so the mess wouldn't be so much to clean 😁😆
