If there were problems before hand with in laws or your significant others family do you attend family functions still? Do you try to make peace? Or do you just go about your life? Honest opinion. I mean, the way I see it is you are not married to the family or with the family. You are only married to the man. Is that wrong in a way orrrrr....??

I guess it depends on the situation. If it's just an "oh, she was rude to me and he never says hi" situation, I think it's kind of petty to miss out on family functions just because you don't get along.

However, there's situations you can absolutely be mad at. For example "brother/sister in law thinks it's okay to get inappropriate with me/husband."

I have a family member who was always asking me for pictures in my workout clothes or bikini's or try to get me to play 20 question type games and pry into my personal life. Then after I told this person I was uncomfortable talking to them anymore, they turned around and accused my husband of being a wife and child abuser. On Facebook.

We will likely never attend any family events with this person again. 🙄

I only go to family events for my husband because I know he likes to see me try and get along with them. It makes him happy that I'm at least trying to be the bigger person and get along with them.

I think when you get married your a part of that family but unfortunately not everyone thinks of it that way which is really sad

I guess it depends on the situation and if the in laws are mean/ disrespectful. If that's the case then you should go on with your life and be happy with your husband.
