My baby is breastfed 3 months old. And starting to considering supplementing formula. Atleast at night. For my own sanity. Any advice on how to start or find out what won't hurt his stomach

Awesome. Thank you. I def would prefer non gmo and adding probiotics helps in sure. I use dr browns also. I've worked with kids for years and saw a lot of success with them

Similac, Enfamil or Gerber have gentle (sensitive) formula. I would take this route because by making them sensitive means the protein is partially broken into smaller bits which means their tummies work less to break them down and digest.

My daughter started off with Enfamil gentlease but we switched to Gerber Soothe. Gerber formulas are non gmo, all of them have the protein broken down & include probiotics, which in my case I saw my daughter poop with alot more ease. I chose "soothe" because it has less lactose which could also help prevent gas.

When mixing formula try not to shake it even though the can says in the direction to shake. I stir the formula around till dissolve or if I shake it, I let it settle for a bit. Also it depends on the bottle, I use Dr. Brown, they have many parts to them but compared to other bottles she has used, I can truly say these bottles have zero to little air bubbles when she drinks her milk.

@mamabeartaryn, yep! I think enfamil makes a formula for supplementing too. Don't feel guilty. I tried to breast feed when she was born and a few days after we got home and she would not latch and I wasn't producing enough milk. I wanted to breast feed so bad because it was such an amazing feeling knowing my milk was feeding my baby! Unfortunately I had to switch over to formula. I felt guilty for a little while but knowing her belly was full and she was happy & healthy made me realize that's what matters!

@beebaby, ready feed formulas are pre mixed and powder is with water so when you shake it it creates a lot of bubbles which can cause gas and gas pains. My baby is on similac sensitive powder and I stir her formula with a sterilized butter knife because all the bubbles were causing her so much gas. @mamabeartaryn, if you want to supplement similac makes a formula specifically for supplementing. I wouldn't try anything without asking your pedi first though.

@beebaby, that's what I thought too, but every time I would try to give him anything else it wouldn't settle with his stomach for some reason. Some babies are just super sensitive so even the slightest difference can cause discomfort

My son was very sensitive to certain formulas, the one that worked the best without hurting his stomach was Similac advanced ready to go formula, they even have a sensitive stomach version of it. My son would get stomach pains on any powder formula especially enfamil so he had to use the already liquid formula!

@cubanese, he already sleeps through the night. 7-9 hours atleast. Depending. But he cluster feeds a lot at nights. Or eats for a long time. And lately he goes nuts when he attaches and it isn't instant and I just wonder if a bottle or formula would just be helpful
