This is so mentally exhausting. This is all I can get out of my left side no matter how often I pump or put her to the breast. I can get an oz to an oz and a half on my right. She's not gaining like she should be (gaining but not a lot) I'm afraid I'm not giving her enough. I want this to work so bad but then I feel selfish bc I don't want to under feed her. 💔😢

Thats about average! 😅 thats all that I could get as well. But it all adds up! She's still really young it took my son about 4-6w to fully catch up on weight! Youre doing your best, dont give up! I've been there.

@kambam thank you. That makes me feel a little better. This is first time I've exclusively breast fed ans honestly I have no idea what I'm doing. She just seems so hungry all the time. She's always rooting at my breast, her hands, my arm, anything.

That's normal output, not everyone reacts to a pump well. The only sure way to make more milk is to put baby to breast. She'll always be able to get more than a pump can. Also, her gaining is good, especially if she's making plenty of diapers. Believe you can provide for her mama, you're doing great.

Yep. Honestly my son stayed latched to me literally all day for the first 4 weeks. I had to pump and supplement after feeds because I didnt wanna do formula. But besides those forced feeds he was on me ALL the time to get that weight back up. Plus its just super comforting for them, its all they know in this new world.

Breastfeeding is very time consuming because babies can digest milk much easier than formula. If your baby feeds often it's not because you're not producing. It's because that's normal and frequent feeding helps establish your supply. The more milk you remove from your brush the more you will make. Pumping between feedings can help increase your supply as well. Make sure you stay hydrated, lots of water will help as well.

You're doing great honey! Keep going!

My ped. said it took all 3 of his kids about a month to get back to their birth weight. As long as baby is gaining and not loosing he told me not to stress too much. And newborns constantly nurse, it's not an indication on if you're producing enough or not. Honestly I felt like my daughter was nursing all the time until she was like 3 months, I'm sure she wasn't but it felt that way. You are mommy and nursing isn't just for food. Nursing is for comfort as well and I would think being born is a fairly traumatic experience. Don't give up on such an amazing journey.

I've been there where I pumped and barely got anything and felt discouraged. But 4 months after that experience my daughter is still breastfeeding and gaining perfectly. Pumps really suck at getting out your milk. Babies are designed to and as long as there are no issues (lip tie, tongue tie, cleft, etc..) they get milk out way better than a pump.

Sorry for the book but I don't want any mother to feel discouraged and give up on breastfeeding because it is amazing for mom and baby.
