Serious question.
My dad was in prison when I met him after 15+ years of not knowing he was alive. This is me at 18 visiting. Well, he got out last summer and has really been trying to have a relationship with me and my growing family. He is doing all the things he should be to stay out of trouble that I know of but of course I'm scared...
I have two kids to think about and most of all, I don't want them to not know their grandpa if I have nothing to worry about.. What would you do?
He's even asked to babysit my oldest son but I've said I wasn't ready for that. I seriously don't know if I'll ever be.
Making bad decisions that cost your family once, you'd think he would have learned his lesson serving so much time behind bars? He claims that he lives his life for us now. And I just want everything to work out so badly!
@mommysbabies, That's a good idea. If I'm ever feeling like he may be back pedaling, I will remind him that my kids come first. I just know my mom told him that he'd never see me again when they split up when I was 3. So I can imagine he doesn't want to go through something like that again
Just start with letting him come around in an environment that feels safe for you and your kids and just tell him one mistake and you can't do it you have your kids to think about first and foremost
@energizederica21, no problem mama! Just don't expect too much at first you won't disappoint yourself! I wish you the best!
@mazeyy09, thanks mama! This is great advice. I am still getting to know him and it's just built in me to love and trust him though. I feel like I might be like getting my hopes up? He does really well with my kiddos and my boyfriend spends time with him alone even!
Take baby steps! Don't rush into the babysitting. But you can introduce your children to him and see how they take to each other. Invite him over to different things. You still have to get to know him also. It will take some time.
Yesterday I went out with my boyfriend went to watch a movie, me and him don't live together yet. but point is yesterday when he was dropping me off his like sleep over at my house witch the mom and dad lives. I said no,
his response was why is everyone deciding or making choices for you and their going to do the same with the baby, when I know that's not true. what he thinks is that my mom tells me not to sleep over. So he left all mad. and I felt in my heart that he went on and cheated on me...
Am I wrong for telling my Bd that because we not Married my baby don't have to have his last name? He really got mad and told me I was project n ignorant. Crazy part is I was thinking about giving my baby his middle and last name
A mom's post made me think about my son n his sexuality when he young. I think the only reason I wouldn't want my son to be gay because he already gone have a difficult time in life as it is...other than that I don't think I would mind!
Would y'all be upset/distraught if ur son grewup to be gay?
so idk what to do im supposed to be moving out with my bf, baby daddy he is 14 yrs older then me and he has his niece that is 25 that lives with him and she has a daughter that's almost 6 but on day she was being stupid and told me that I might have her daughters dad closer then me then i though since then we have had lots of fights about it and he always says it's not his daughter but why would she say that and why would he have gotten so mad when i questioned him about it and every time he pos...
@itsamemario, you deleted your post before I could hit send but this is my comment: I don’t know if this answers your question but this is my answer.
My son is 7 and he knows race and color. Why? Because he himself comes from a family that is multi racial and because he has already experienced racism. I also believe as his mother it’s my job to teach him color and the cold hard truth about society. He knows what’s going on in this world. I’d be hurting him if I allowed him to blindly walk out...
Yeah it's hard to hear that best of luck
