If you would like to join a breastfeeding group to learn some great information I'd be happy to add you. Quitting cigarettes and breastfeeding will benefit both you and your baby short and long term.

Please understand this.....your breastmilk provides baby with antibodie that protect them from illness etc. If you're going to smoke regardless, it's better to breastfeed because formula will not protect your baby. Regardless, if you're this concerned you should be quitting. If you smoke one cigarette a day that's not far off from stopping completely.
I've been thinking about it a lot.. I chose to formula feed but I really feel like I should reconsider.. I do smoke now (I know, not good) but I limit myself to one a day! I really want to breast feed but I'm kinda on edge about it..

It's never good to smoke regardless. However, nicotine leaves the system really fast. One would need to have a smoke immediately after nursing so that by the time the baby is ready to eat again, the nicotine has had time to clear out. It is still better to breastfeed if you smoke than to give formula
