@beautifulmommyof2, it's someone who's job is to help a woman through labor... like a coach, but so much more... some will advocate for you with the doctors based on what you want or don't want, they document things, so you can focus only on what you need, mine brought a diffuser with peppermint because it soothed me, she made sure I had cool cloths when needed, offered suggestions for different positions that would help the baby move down, would help massage pressure points during contractions and helped keep my husband calm, gave him breaks so he could use the restroom, get a quick bite and update family without leaving me alone... she would remind me to relax certain areas during contractions... it was AMAZING! I was induced, they expected it to take 24-48 hours before I delivered... I delivered in less than 12! I honestly believe it was because of the help and support my doula gave me! She was worth every penny!
@beautifulmommyof2, well I wish you the best! I took really amazing birthing classes, and they totally helped me in labor! Have you looked into hiring a doula? I had one with my first and it was SO helpful!
@dreamermom, I've read plenty and I actually did go to 2 classes with my first pregnancy but didn't continue. And between my 11m old and work I don't have time for classes. Just praying for the best and a much better delivery than my first.
@dreamermom, the delivery. last time I was in so much pain, my breathing was off I was hooked up to an oxygen machine, my body was shaking so hard they couldn't find my sons heartbeat it was just bad.
