Question to mommas that jad vaginal births, what did the doctor do that they said helped prevent tearing? For me, when it was just the nurses they ran their fingers along the bottom kf my vagina lightly but firmly (only slightly uncomfortable), but when the doctor came in she was seriously like prying and trying to open me up wider and i hate talking about it so this is the first time ive been able to ask if its happened to anyone else? It was the most painful part of pushing. And even though i asked if she could stop she said it was necessary. But ive never heard anyone else ever mention this happening.

@haley-lamb i had an epidural so being checked and everything wasnt painful after i got it. And the nurses did their thing only minutes before the doctor

Well, for one. I had a midwife because I feel like modern day doctors just don't get it anymore. My midwife was running her fingers along the base of my vagina towards my perineum to "stretch" it but I asked her to stop. And she did. And my baby came out without any more assistance. Each doc is different though, depending on how they learn.

@snowtokyo thats what the nurses were doing and i was okay with it, but the doctor really hurt me. My husband said it looked like she was trying to rip me open. It was very painful and she did not stop when i asked. I could tell she was trying to rush things. 🙄

My midwife stretched me like that for multiple reasons. I was too exhausted to feel pain and just wanted my baby out after 4hrs of pushing... I had a small tear. Did you tear?

Yes! Or even family like mom or childs dad that will be strong for you. Cuz doulas are expensive 😆

My doctor held one finger on my butthole and one finger at the top of my vagina basically saying it was supposed to help so I didn't tear. But I also had a second degree tear
