I'm a first time mom and I'm wondering if anyone has any advice to help a newborn sleep more at night then day..I know his still getting use to the outside..
@hayleeharber by six weeks she was sleeping through the night and I never stopped with that rule. She has slept ten to twelve hrs a night by four months
@monicafischer86, that's good to hear cause I been making sure to wake him up every three hours to feed him then I try to keep him up for Alil
My pediatrician gave me an article about establishing sleep patterns. The most helpful hint was don't let them sleep during the day more then 3 hrs at a time. Waking to feed every three is a good way to establish day time.
my daughter only wakes up once maybe twice a night. I have a bedtime routine for her. I know it's hard at the beginning but it does get better. Try to establish a routine and that will make things easier.
He slept on my chest the other night but people say not to do the cause it's dangerous. But I don't see a problem in him sleeping on my chest.
maybe!! Give it a try... i also bedshared became i was tryin to get breastfeeding down lol
@lilfree16, we have a fan we have on a night and I have a night light that's by his bassinet I moved it cause it was brighter but I wonder if it bugs him or makes him think its day time.
What i did was around 8 pn i turned the lights off.. spoke quietly, tried hard not to be excitable until morning, but around 7 or 8 i would make the house loud and turn on lights.. also im nursing snd its stuff in your milk that makes them sleepy..something about it matchesnyour carcadium rhythm
@craft.brooke.e, that's what I was doing today when he woke up was talking to him.
My daughter slept all day and would get up 4-5 times a night when she was a newborn. It's DEFINITELY gets better as they get older, she's now almost 9 months and doesn't get up AT ALL at night and wakes up at 8:30 every morning. Definitely give it time. 🙂 it will get better.
My daughter is 6 weeks and she just got out of that a week ago and now only wakes up once at night. I keep her awake longer during the day. I don't wake her up but when she wakes up in the day I try activities with her like bouncing her and exercise her legs while she lays on her back.
Awesome thank you
