I personally love Nexplanon. It's a plastic rod (size of a matchstick) that goes in your skin in your upper arm. They numb your arm, insert it with a needle (It's large, like your pet getting a microchip, but again, you're numb)
It lasts for 3 years. For me at least it doesn't mess with my system too much, in the beginning it regulated my period, but after having it replaced 2 times, I didn't get one eventually.
No noticeable weight gain. I never felt drained, and once it's been in and in need to replacement, it's easier to deal with the second time around.
Some like the IUDs better, they last longer... 7 years. But in looking up possible complications, if it goes wrong (I don't know anyone who's had this happen) it can go very wrong. Like to the point of not being able to have kids wrong.... again, this is potential, and it's rare, but I wasn't willing to risk it. The rod in the arm is best for me. May not be for you.
