I had blood work done at 12 weeks and a nuchal ultrasound at 13 weeks I believe.
The 12 week ultrasound is the NT scan. Its very normal to have one. My office gives you the option to have one or not have one. It goes along with the genetic testing
Message me privately. I had a ton of ultrasound with my son and I have nst which is later on. I'm high risk
You have to tell them if you want it or not well I kno my doctor asked me with my son last year first she asked if I have a history of it in my family or my bd and I said no then she told me I ain't have to do it
Okay okay I'm just nervous it's my first and they didn't call me with any problems so I'm guessing that's a good sign , another thing that had me worried was she wants another ultrasound back to back , I had one at 8 weeks and she wants another at 12 weeks . She said everything was normal when I asked her but I'm just stressed about everything lol @kylesmom16,
The test can be done as early as 9 weeks depending on the one that they use. Generally it's around 11-12 weeks...around the time that they would do the 12 week ultrasound. Some doctors just offer it to everyone, some you have to be at risk.
They test all your normal levels you would at the doctor. Blood count, thyroid test, there are about 20 in work in a lab. they do check the levels on the baby in the beginning to make sure no signs of miscarriage and levels are thriving.
They did at 12 weeks for me but anytime after 10 weeks @kendallbritt__
It's not genetic! It's a extra chromosome. If someone in the family has it the chances of you having it is very slim.
They only do it if you have a family history or request it
Well, some of these comments are right, and some are not.
At 20 (ish) weeks you have your anatomy scan. They look and measure everything on and around the baby. At this time they measure the head/scull. If the head is larger than normal, that's a sign of possible Down Syndrome. At this point they will ask you if you want to do further testing. If it runs in your family, then they will / can also ask if you'd like further testing.
