We vaccinate our children. I know some parents do not and I am not judgmental for that. I've googled, but I still don't know too much about the controversy.
I have someone that would like me to care for her. 5 month old son. They do not vaccinate. What risk do I run for my babies getting sick if they don't vaccinate?
Would love a point of view from both sides!
TIA!

Мама двоих (младенец)
@cubanese, you're right! I have a one and a half month old that hasn't had more than his hospital vaccinations and I didn't know if he would be okay to be exposed to another child that hasn't vaccinated. I try not to be judgmental, I just worry

You being vaccinated will only protect the one who isn't. Most kids who aren't vaccinated don't get sick because of all the responsible people surrounding them preventing any sickness.

Мама сына-младенца
I would be a little wary since your child is too little for his shots. I made people use hand sanitizer before holding my son at that age. It was mostly due to a large RSV breakout though. They just don't have an immune system at that age yet. Even a small illness could hospitalize them. But perhaps I'm too cautious 🤷🏻♀️ lol

Do they have any other children besides the 5 month old? If they have older children that haven't been vaccinated and your son only being a year old - he hasn't had all of his vaccinations yet. So there would be a risk there.

В ожидании первенца
My mother told me vaccinations weren't natural. And at one point didn't exist and children were just fine, their bodies did what they had to do to protect them now all of a sudden they have all these different "must have" vaccines. I do know however my mother kept us away from flu shots when we were young, and the one year I DID get the shot, I got the flu. So I'm a bit shocked there. What has been your experience with it? I would like to know the best route to go for my baby.

Makes sense. @nerualauren, aside from the "responsible" part. I don't think moms who go the natural route are considered irresponsible. What was your experience with vaccinations?

I decided to switch sides to the non vaxxing side. Madi only got hospital shots and 2 mo shots and I felt fear- mongered into those. I'm pretty sure she has the mthfr gene mutation bc of her symptoms (pretty sure I do too,) so that makes her more susceptible to vaccine injury including autism and death. (Vaccine inserts list TONS of side effects and the ingredients. "Vaxxed" documentary is also informative.) I've done my research and keep doing it.
The non vaxxed kid could get sick from your kid shedding after vaxxing. Your child shouldn't have a higher risk of getting sick from the non vaxxed kid...are all adults around you fully vaxxed? Prob not. Vaxxing doesn't keep anyone from getting sick from xyz.

Found this very interesting, my nephew had recurrent ear infections his whole first year of life (pretty sure he was "treated" w antibiotics and I know he is vaxxed) and had to get tubes shortly before his first bday
