Hey guys! Been meaning to post for the last few days but got busy with my little one.
Thought I'd share my birth story. As some of you may know, my water broke on the 4th at 5pm. I went in to MAU who checked me out and then told me to come back once it has been 24 hours for induction, unless I went into labour earlier. By Friday 5th 5pm, I hadn't gone into labour so I went into hospital where I had to wait around due to 'emergencies' but was induced with a pessary/gel at midnight. By 2am I had started to get contractions. I wasnt prepared for how painful even the initial contractions are. 🙈 By 6.30 they were 5 minutes apart and I was 4cm dialated. I was moved to the L&D suite where I laboured using gas and air for a few hours until it got too much and was given a pethidine injection. which in my opinion wasn't much more affective than the gas and air on its own. The pain was so bad that towards the end I was begging for the epidural but was told I'd left it too late and that it wouldn't take affect before baby arrived.
I gave birth on the 6th at 3.47pm via ventouse delivery to my baby boy who weighed 5lbs14oz. I had to have an episiotomy and required 5 stitches.
Me and baby both ended up getting infections due to water breaking nearly 48 hours before his birth and were both on drip antibiotics for a week. I was also given a blood transfusion due to excessive blood loss and very low haemoglobin levels.
We stayed in hospital for 8 days.
Labour was exhausting and by far the most painful experience of my life and the hospital stay was torture (since I had no network on my phone and had the only tv that wasnt working) but I am so grateful and blessed to now have my beautiful baby boy Kiaan.😊
Thanks everyone. Me and baby are doing great and we're recovering well. Just adjusting to our new lives. I'm thinking my labour was par for the course and defo not as bad as some I've heard. As good or bad as it was it was worth every single second since it gave me my precious little baby boy after so many years. 😊
