My daughter just started teething. She has been crying ALL DAY and has refused to be put down ALL DAY. She won't finish her bottles but then cries for more ALL DAY. She wouldn't even use any of her teething toys. She cried while I held her. She cried while eating. She couldn't sleep unless I held her, and then only for a few minutes at a time as she kicked and thrashed and cried even in her sleep. Inconsolable. My nerves were fried. FRIED I tell you. I actually had to set her down in her swing and walk across the room for a second just to take a deep, sanity-restoring breath. Then My fiancé came up to me, and extended out his hand. I didn't know what he was doing. Did he want me to hold it? Give him a high five? Confused and tired I touched his hand and he said "tagged out." Then led me into our bedroom and said "here. HGTV is on the tv, there's wine on the nightstand. Go relax. I'll take care of the baby."

I looked at him for a second. I thought about protesting. But instead I just shut my mouth, said thank you, and accepted the gesture.
