This may be a dumb question but here goes.
If you choose not to baptize your child, can you still give them godparents? My mom never baptized me as a kid, she wanted me to choose what religion I believed in and I don't have any godparents. I ended up getting baptized at 19 at a Christian church but they don't believe in baptizing babies. I'm not sure if they go hand in hand or what but my hubby was baptized Catholic and has godparents lol

Go for it then. It's nice to know someone that will truly care for your child 😊

@iviesha, my friend is actually closer to my parents age. I've known her from church for about 5 years and she is amazing! Raised a fantastic guy by herself for the past 18 years so I know she would take good care of my son if something were to happen.
@djcjej, that's why my mom didn't baptize me, she wanted me to find my own beliefs instead of going the usual catholic route that Hispanics tend to go

I'm not a religious person. I believe in God but I don't believe in all these rules that churches and different denominations make up. You choose and do your own thing. I don't see anything wrong with them still having Godparents if they aren't baptized.

@canaryv, I just did it first I asked to see if she would say yes I've known her my whole life and I felt like we had that connection she said yes it wasn't about me I mean we stay in a totally different state from her but when we go down she makes time to see him and get him things see I don't ask for her to do anything she has to be willing to take on that role but.... I'd go for it this the 21st century everything is different you gotta do what's best for you and your baby I think a single godparent will do as good as those who are married just my opinion

@heavenleesmomma16, how did you go about giving her godparents?
@iviesha, I've always thought godparents were the ones who took care of the child in the event both parents died so I wanted my son to have someone to go to if that happened. My first choice is actually a single woman as well :)

Oh, makes sense. My church dedicates babies to God but they don't baptize until they're old enough to understand what it means. I didn't grow up in church, so I wasn't sure how it all worked. @skysmommy04, @bluedolphin77,

I'm thinking that's the whole part of the GOD parent thing baptizing in a church presenting them to god giving them a second set of parents with a new name in the church
