I keep seeing the posts on here about car safety for the little ones. So heres the picture of my first and only wreck. This happened around March of 2016. I became pregnant later on around Sept 20th 2016.

You see the picture now let me tell you how bad it actually was. This was my error and mine alone. I was driving to work, doing 60mph in a 35. It wouldnt have been so bad if it werent for two things. One: it had rained the night before and some of the roads were still wet. Two: i was zoned out the whole time driving up until i wrecked. I was doing fine until i came to a curve that i shouldve only taken at 25mph. I was zoned out thinking about everything. I wasnt even paying attention to my speed. I took the curve at 60mph and hit a slick spot. My rear end broke loose while my front was holding traction. This is when i glanced down and noticed my speed. I kept turning the steering wheel back and forth to conpensate for the lean like i needed to. However, i was doing this out of instinct and was mostly still zoned out. I wish i wouldve stayed that way bc i wouldve made it out without wrecking. Something clicked on in my brain though and i was suddenly aware of what was happening. I panicked and hit the brakes even though i knew not to. This jerked me to the left all the way across the opposite side of the road. I got lucky that no one else was coming the opposite way at the time as my left front tire left the road and my driver side door hit a road sign. By time i hit the road sign i knew what was going to happen and i knew my options. Either go limp and give myself a 50% chance of living, or stay stiff with adrenaline and die. There was no other way around it. I knew i was going to flip and i knew that i only had a small chance of surviving. So wanting depserately to see my husband (boyfriend at the time) again, i went limp right as the first flip started. Dropping my adrenaline to go limp caused my body to go into shock. While i was able to keep the rest of my body limp i did everything i could to keep my hands on the wheel so they wouldnt fly out the window. During the first flip, which was a summer salt, (i went air born bc of the ditch i hit with the right front of my car) i passed out. When i hit the ground i woke up, before passing out again as i left the ground another time. By this point i was just flipping from side to side. I woke up and passed out one more time for a total of 3 flips. At the end of the third flip it took me what felt like at least 3 mins to fully come to and open my eyes. The driver side was up in the air as shown in the picture. I exspected to see blood but i didnt. I exspected to feel pain but i didnt. All but one window was in tact with no cracks. All the safety features worked as well. My engine shut off as soon as i was no longer up right to reduce risk of gas spark and ignition. My seat belt held me in place, and my cars air bag system gauged the wreck properly and didnt deploy the air bags. While not deploying the air bags sounds like a bad thing, think about it. I was flipping at 60mph. I went limp. My head went tword the steering wheel first. Had the air bags deployed i wouldve died by blunt force trama to the head from meeting the air bag head on. With the help of a stranger i got out of my car. To this day i still dont know his name bc i was on the phone with my husband making sure i was alive. Yes i was that tramatized. I got out with only minor bruises. My car took care of me, and thats why to this day it sits in my back yard even though its totaled the parts are still usable. I also will only drive that yr model of Jeep now. It saved my life in the long run. It held together while other cars wouldve turned into shrattenal in that type of wreck.

Enough said about the car. I love my car, but thats not the point in this story. Its the fact that i got careless. I was lucky no one else was involved. Had they been i dont belive i could bring myself to drive anymore. Since then ive slowed down. When we found out about the baby i slowed down even more. Yes sometimes i still speed but not like i used to. My child is important to me. To the point that ill go bellow the speed limit to keep it safe both now and later. That being said other peoples children are just as important to me. So i also slow down to make sure no one else is involved just in case anything dumb, my fault or not, ever happens again, that we can all get out of it with minor issues if any at all.

So what im trying to say is to not just think of yourself and your children, but everyone elses to. While most of us older people can withsatnd more, the littles ones cant. I know none of us want the death or pain of our child, or anyone elses on our conciousness. So please everyone be safe.

@first.time.mommy what happened to me is what happens when your no longer afraid of driving. I trusted my car to take care of me and it did. My mistake was not being afraid of the roads anymore. Of not being afraid of driving at all anymore. So always stay afraid of it on some level. It keeps you alert.
