Idk how you let him do whatever he wants. He keeps being an asshole because you let him. When do you tell him enough is enough?

@arivera64 I'm trying, girl. I really am. I keep trying to talk to him, but he just gets defensive and thinks I'm trying to argue with him. I try to be sympathetic with him because I know he's tired and I know it's his only day off and he wants some time to relax and stuff. I get it. But like as soon as I ask him to do anything, he acts like I'm asking him to do everything himself. He's gotten a little better, but he still wants to do this "parenting from afar" thing and it's so frustrating bc that simply isn't how it works. I've thought about telling him that if he doesn't get better then I'll leave, but that's kind of like an ultimatum and I don't feel like that's fair...i dunno. 😕

How is that not fair? He isn't pulling his weight. Relationships and parenting isn't a one way street. The longer you continue letting him get away with not helping, then you'll be stuck in this cycle forever. And if you're gonna keep letting him do it, then accept it and stop getting mad that he's not helping. He doesn't pull his weight yet you go buy him a car when he wont even watch his own baby so you can go to work. I'm not trying to be mean, but if you want things to change you have to be the one to change them.

@arivera64 I know. I'm just a huge pushover. 😣 I got him the car so that I can go back to work, because his old one needs a new transmission. It was a gift from a family member, so we only had to pay for the plate. I want to actually sit down and talk about it, but he assumes I'm trying to argue. Idk if I'm going about it the wrong way or what. I know he does a lot for us when it comes to providing for our family. I just wish he would help more with the baby, or even just simple housework. It would make it a lot easier on me.

Write him a letter? Sometimes when i get pissed with my husband i send him an email because i have timw to think about what i want to say AND he can't argue back with me or interrupt.

I was dead set on leaving for a bit, I still have a secret bank account set up just in case. But I don't want it to come to that, you know? But I gotta be more assertive. I know that much. I usually end up waiting until he doesn't help and I'm irritated before even saying something to him.

Yep. Just be firm. Sometimes they think we are superheroes and that we can do it with no help
