Im really bummed but I have finally come to terms with my low milk supply. After almost 4 weeks of taking supplements, pumping and supplementing with bottle due to my baby losing too much weight. I'm officially giving up on breastfeeding and just going to formula feed my baby. I wanted nothing more than to breast feed but due to health reasons I'm not able to keep a normal amount of breast milk to sufficiently feed my baby. It's so disappointing. I feel guilty and sad that I already can't give my son the best.

Thank you. Since you have thyroid issues like I do, I'm sure you know it's so hard and it's a totally different issue going on then a baby problem with nursing that you can correct. I guess there's a medication you can take to help with the hormones but it's probably too late for me to take them since my son is so used to the bottle now. @seckman813,

Awh, I'm so sorry to hear you struggling with this. With my now almost 3 year old I had the same issues. Because of my hyperactive thyroid I had to switch to formula. You are doing the right thing though as a mother which is making sure your baby is healthy. Hang in there beautiful!

Thank you! I'm trying to tell myself this but it sucks feeling so defeated. For the first week he breastfed perfectly and then it just went downhill from there with the weight loss. He was so fussy and now I know it was because he was hungry. My pediatrician said I needed to supplement with formula and get his weight back up. I've been taking lactation classes with the best lactation nurse in this area and she put us on a breastfeeding schedule. She said she thinks the weight loss was due to his poor sucking. It's been grueling to say the least and now my baby prefers the bottle over breast and cries when I try to nurse him. He basically refuses to nurse now. The nurse taught me how I could try to get him to nurse but it feels like I'm forcing something that just isn't going to work long term especially since my milk supply is still low. @aliakr,

This is the feeding schedule. I'm lucky if I can get him to nurse 1 time a day. Also it's extremely hard to pump 8 times a day. I have the single handheld nuk breast pump. It's been 5 weeks of waiting for my insurance to approve my Splendor double breast pump. I'm still waiting. It's so frustrating!@mommakay3,

Don't feel guilty. Breastfeeding could either being the most beautiful thing or the most stressful thing it's not always the same for every woman. As long as your baby is fed it's the best thing for him. Even if the baby only got colostrum that's still really good. Don't be so hard on yourself your baby needs you to happy and not stressing over upping your supply.

Don't be sad or feel guilty! As long as your baby is fed and happy nothing else matters. I went through the same thing and you are giving him the best that you can! You are an amazing mother and don't let anything bring you down!

For bottle feeds is the pump uncomfortable... I would normally just breast feed and not pump when home but I do drive so when I’m out and can’t stop I’ll have to use a bottle...I remember trying to breast feed my youngest and I keeped getting milk ducts why was that??? I think that’s why I gave up as I was scared lol

I've been supplementing some with formula because my baby boy just demands more than what I'm putting out and he seems happier with the formula..my breast milk doesn't seem to satisfy him enough and it seems like he's always hungry unless I give him formula..should I switch to formula only? I thought breast milk was supposed to be best but in his case I'm not so sure ugh idk what to do I just want him to be happy
