@mommy.ortiz4, lol yea last night was tragic. Hearing from everyone I won't expect tonight to be any better lol. I'll just make sure we get our naps in
My daughter is the same age as your baby. She's been off of it for 10 days Now ... i didn't plan on taking her off even tho I wanted too but what had happened was . Her gmom came to visit and she left with it in her purse by accident. I spent that whole day trying to find it and couldn't . I told her dad not to get her anymore so that's how that went . First 2 nights was the worst !! After that she got better but was still cranky. Now she's good
@lilmelaninbarbie, aw good luck! Lol.. Well I would've started during the day when not everyone is sleeping lol
@juajames1, it's hard ignoring him cause he sleeps with and doesn't have his own room yet 😩. Imma try the stuff Animals and see if that helps any. Thanks for the tips mama ❤️☺️
Give him a toy. A stuffed animal to hold on to at night. My son don't like stuffed animal so it was his cars and cooking toys. Just anything that clams him down but not the pacifiers.
And sometimes it's good to ignore the crying and let him fall asleep on his on.
It's a lot of different things you can try. It was easy with my first son. Don't know how it will be with my little baby boy. ( when it's that time)
@taviap, lol that's so cute 😂. I'll try him with his little elephant blanket and see . I know he'll probably prefer me more then anything . I'll be the next thing I needs to work on getting him off of lol. Thanks so much for the tips 💖
@savannagarcia648, exactly lol I hate searching for them in the dark or when he throws them somewhere 🤦🏾♀️. I've bought way too many . thank you mama 😭. You got me believing I can do this .
@lilmelaninbarbie, I hope it does for you! You can always try to like get him to cling to a stuffed animal or a blanket. My son loves Mickey Mouse and paw patrol and I thought his stuffed animals of them would comfort him but no.... He holds a book at night lol so whatever works. Good luck!!!
@thatsbetsyv, that's what I'm doing tonight lol. I'm hoping it goes well.
@taviap, he just started putting himself to sleep here and there so I've been loving it . Getting him on milk and off the breast was smooth sailing also getting him to drink from a sippy cup,so I'm hoping this will go smoothly to.
Yeah my son used those, they were his favorite. The first couple nights will be rough I'm not gonna lie but once he gets use to not having it, you and him will both love it. KL would throw his and lose them everywhere. I guarantee I have over 30 pacifiers right now from finding them after he gave them up. You've got this. He will teach himself how to self soothe in the night and he will not think twice about it. If you need any advice or just need to talk just inbox me.
Just take it away! Lol my kid got over it the next day-- or 2 was it?
@lilmelaninbarbie, lol yes it's really hard and a fr struggle! Every night my son gets in the bed and says mama paci and I just tell him your a big boy now and you'll be fine just go night night...some nights that has worked, other nights he's cry on and off for 30 min and just goes to sleep. The first night was the worse lol.
@taviap, wow I'm glad it's going good so far. You go girl! I was anti pacifier until he was tearing my nipples up and screaming his head off and then I gave in 😩.
@savannagarcia648, no . I happen to use the ones that can't come apart . The blue Soothies? I think that's what they're called , so far tonight I have some lullaby music going and I rubbed his back and he went back to sleep and tomorrow imma hide the rest of them and hopefully the transition will go smoothly . He's a frequent waker , so the pacifier kinda is my life ☹️but his teeth are coming in and I kinda want to get him away from it
Go through that right now. My son turned two 2 weeks ago and I officially took it from him last week. I'd say start slow don't let your baby have it through out the day and only when they take naps and go to sleep for the night and slowly go from there. My son only got his paci when he took naps and went to sleep for the night since he was 1. It's been a struggle though and every night has gotten a little bit easier.
@lilmelaninbarbie I have a friend who substituted the pacifier for a lovey or a small security blanket and it worked that way, but that may just be another thing to break away from in time. Which my son has a security blanket in his bed just because his little brother has two for when he gets here and he is jealious, but he doesn't mind it as much as the pacifier. Is he picky on the brand or style of the pacifier?
@savannagarcia648, @juajames1, y'all have it made 😩. He spits it out once he falls asleep . He sleeps pretty bad already so I'm just worried about how much fighting imma have to put up with and how much more sleep imma miss out on .
Almost same thing with my son, after his first seizure when he turned 1 he just gave them up. I told him he was a big boy and he didn't seem interested in them. His doctor said that once he learns to self soothe that more than likely he will give them up.
I told my son when he was 12 months and 2 weeks that he was a big boy now. Then I asked him could I have it, and he gave it to me. Then when he was 13 months and 1 week I told him the same thing about the bottle. But I told him I was giving it to his new brother and he gave it to me.
But every child is different try various things and see what works for you all.
Good luck momma
@lilmelaninbarbie you can do this. I hated searching for them and they are very smart on where to hide them.
