It amazes me that my husband and I are one of the VERY VERY VERY few parents that stay the night with their baby in the NICU. We have not left this hospital in almost 6 days, and tonight we left for an hour to go get food and we both feel so lost and guilty. I couldn't imagine a full night..

I would never be able to leave either. I had the hospital allow me to stay while my daughter was still in the hospital for her jaundice I never left her side one moment. My family would come bring me food.

One of my twins was there for 23 days and the other is still there. It's really hard. Be sure to take good care of yourself as well. You are healing. Your daughter is in good hands. The nicu nurses are like angels! I can't wait to have my son home. His brother needs him!

@aliakr, we are lucky enough to get to room with our daughter on a tiny couch. We never leave, I don't see how some go days without their babies.

Yeah I don't understand how they could either. I mean of course everyone has to work an they may have other children at home but I know I wouldn't be able to leave. I know when I was in the NICU my 2 grandmothers an mom an dad would do 3 shifts one would stay till lunch time the next till dinner an the next till morning I was never alone. Congratulations on your beautiful daughter

Same! Luckily our hospital offered a room called "Zanes Room" that was fully furnished, with couches, a flat screen, full kitchen and bathroom, and after we were discharged we were able to basically move into that little room for however long we needed and the nurses even came in to watch movies with us! But it is so hard sometimes but like the other momma said be sure to care for yourself momma it can be draining.
