My boyfriends mom wants to get bassinet and swings for our baby, but she wants to get them used offline. Personally, I don't want used things if I don't know that person, especially things my baby will be sleeping in because I don't know what the people before did with it and if it's safe. I appreciate her wanting to help, but I tried hinting to her that I have a registry with swings and bassinet on there that wasn't expensive, and that I wasn't sure if I wanted one used. She goes ahead and says she's buying it anyway. Then if someone at the baby shower buys a swing that's on my registry she'll feel bad. She's just all about getting the bare minimum & getting nothing new. This is my first baby, I want to get new things and spoil her. I just don't know what else I can do, I told my boyfriend that he's going to have to talk to his family about it because when I do they think that I think I'm better than them or unappreciative

I have four kids and nothing but some clothes bottles and diapers is new. I just wash everything down with some bleach water and soap and wash the fabrics in laundry soap a few times. Just ask for it to be cleaned before bringing it over to you. Trust me getting used is best because half the time it's only used for a short time.

Really the only thing new that we got for Isabelle was her crib, pack and play, and high chair. Our swing, changing table, and even her exersaucer were used. As long as theyre in good condition and they're clean, there's really no difference! At first I was frustrated bc all the used stuff didn't really match the color schemes we were going for, but now it doesn't even matter to us. If you end up getting new ones off your registry, maybe let his mom keep the ones she gave you for if she ever goes over there. That's what we did with multiples we got.

I dont reccomend a bassinet they have a certain weight limit. Prefer play pen or crib
