It seems like my daughter can't poop without me helping to stimulate it 😕 I used a q-tip with Vaseline yesterday bc she hadn't went in almost 2 days and she went a lot. And since then, she hasn't went anymore. I used a q-tip again earlier but it didn't make her go. She has another pedi appt Monday though, so I plan on telling them then. I just don't really know if I should do anything else until then.
My little one was also formula fed and had issues. What was the poop like? Hard/chalky? If you tried stimulating and nothing came out she's probably fine and doesn't have enough to poop yet (not a medical professional, just going off personal experience. Everyone is different!). We used enfamil gentlease and reguline for baby's finicky tummy; gentlease to help with his throwing up, and reguline to soften his stools. He is just on reguline now but poops aren't as soft as my older one's was at this stage. Less so because of baby food. Breast milk has a natural laxative in it, formula does not. Pediatrician may suggest adding just a teaspoon or so of laxative to the formula as mine did. We never followed through with that though, so that's the extent of my experience. Hope I helped some, even if it's just reassurance that it's normal. And don't forget, you can always call a nurse help line at the hospital at any time.
@annaerandolph, yes my god son had to get his formula changed 7 times because it would make him constipated and he wouldn't poop for days. Now he has problems with food too. I hope it is just a formula thing for you, or they tell you she's fine and not constipated. Good luck at your appointment! 😊
@beebaby, that's what I was wondering just because everything is so new. I knew breastfed babies could go a while without pooping but I didn't know about bottle fed. But I will ask her pedi about it Monday so that maybe she won't get constipated 😕@taviap,
@turnturnsip, it's okay 😂😂 her poop was very soft when it came out, there was just a lot of it. She's still on regular enfamil newborn right now, so maybe she's okay! Hopefully everything will go great at her appt tomorrow :)
