So I have diverticulitis, which is basically pockets in your colon that food and waste can get stuck in and cause it to rupture. If a rupture happens, then all of the toxic waste runs into your stomach, which can be very deadly. I have already had surgery for a rupture once and had 8 inches of my colon removed. My main worry with this pregnancy is that with diverticulitis you're not supposed to strain to go to the bathroom, yet I'm going to be straining when I push to deliver my baby. I'm concerned that if I currently have a pocket in my colon, that it will rupture from my pushing 😢 I'm going to see if it's possible to have a colonoscopy while pregnant so I can at least see if there is a pocket.

No bc it literally just dawned on me. I go to see my midwife on Thursday and plan on discussing it then @mommysbabies

I had a scope test done and they tested for pregnancy before they would let me do it because they put you under

I have had one done after I healed from my surgery and it was horrible! Woke up half way through the procedure. And I'm thinking that with all my organs pushed up, that they may not be able to do anything anyway. I haven't had an complications from my diverticulitis throughout this pregnancy, so it's probably just me worrying for nothing, but I'm still going to see what they say @mommysbabies

Oh I'm definitely going to talk to them about it. They know about my past surgery and complications bc it was brought up during the initial questions about my medical history and no one seemed concerned. I'm going to bring it up to ease my mind @sumria
