Tomorrows my WIC appointment and I want to tell them to give me a pump. What can I tell them for them to give me one? With my son I told them he started formula cause of latching issues and I wanted to pump my breastmilk out but I never stuck to it. Nevaeh is breastfed but my WIC office is the type to be like "well your nipples will heal just keep latching" I've already started her on a bottle when I hand express milk but I want to start storing milk.

i asked for one before i had my baby cus i thought i would breastfeed, they told me they need proof of u needing one likea note from school that ur studying or proof that ur working

What happened with your insurance giving u one? Did that fall thru? @andrewsmommy, as far as I know, what happens in my area is if you're formula feeding your baby wic will provide vouchers for that. If you're breast feeding and working they'll get u a breast pump. I think you can even borrow or like rent one? But I told my midwife I need one and after my baby is born they're going to write me a prescription for one and I'll just go pick it up. It's covered thru my insurance. I don't know where you live but I'm on state insurance so it seems like if you are too, yours should be covered too?

@megsandbabes i got one from my insurance in 2015 for my son so they wont cover this one. It's every 5 years. Yeah I know my son was on formula from WIC. I borrowed one from them before my insurance got me mines but I had told them I needed it cause I wanted to still BF my son but he wouldn't latch on anymore

Tell them you are breastfeeding and that you are over flowing on your supplies so you need a breast pump so that your milk don't go to a waste.. And they should give you one @andrewsmommy

The wic where I live just gave me one because I wanted to start my daughter on formula (I was going back to work) they're big on breastfeeding here. I feel like if you tell them your reason they shouldn't hesitate. If not I also got a cheap hand pump at target, I think it came out to 30 dollars.

@genesisandaidenmommy thats exactly what is going on lol i mentioned that to them over the phone and they insist its a latching thing😒😒

Tell them is not a latching thing and tell them that your daughter takes enough or eats often but that still doesn't stop the leaking from stoping and that you don't want your milk to go to waste that you want to storage it for when you go out or just in case of in emergency
