To start off with just put it on the highchair as plate will just end on the floor with the food . Get a plastic matt or shower curtain to put under highchair so not only saves your floor but you can pick some bits up and give them back to him. What ever you have as long as there is no salt. To start of with give big pieces as its easier for him to pick up while he masters his pincher grip. If you are on facebook why dont you join Baby led weaning UK you can ask questions plus lots of recipes. Also dont worry about amount he eats to start of with as he is discovering and till 1 year old milk is main source of nutrient
I'm not sure what's best to start with as I just gave him a bit of everything right from the start. Harvey loves bananas and oranges ! I put it it straight on the high chair for him to pick at it is very messy but as times gone on its actually got less messy as more goes in his mouth haha xx
So I give him veg & stuff but I started on purées (didn't know how important BLW was) but he don't eat as much as gets frustrated. Its so messy but I just let him get in it with. What foods would you suggest? His good with crumpets & toast. Broccoli was interesting but he ate some of it & peas tonight was no good! I just want to know what foods are best to start with. I have lots of fruit & veg. Also do you put it on a plate/bowl or just on the high chair? @mammamia82, @beck_yemm, xxx
Started just after my boy turned 6 months and never looked back. He is now 18 months and eats everything, avocado is his favourite. Really messy at the beginning but he eats with a fork and spoon from just around one and has now mastered the art and isnt as messy anymore!
I do a mix of blw and jars with Harvey xx he has a bit of everything really toast, cheese, meat, pasta, crumpets he's even had stirfry xx basically anything I have as long as it's not too high in salt or sugar x he's brill at feeding himself and being spoon fed I started when he was 6 months xx
