Oh mama I'm so sorry. This is always so hard. My daughter is too young for me to have experienced that, however, when my niece was about 4 she said that to me. I have always been very very close to her. I've been in her life since she was a baby. I burst into tears as soon as she said it. My mom was there and said not to worry, that it's a phase and happens with every child. I brought it up about a year ago (she's 11 now), and she looked at me, gasped, and said, "Auntie Shaw, I would NEVER say that to you! I love you!" She didn't even remember. The best thing to do is tell him that you're very sorry to hear that because you love him very much and try not to show emotion. Works like a charm. I know it's hard :( I'm sorry

Hey 👋🏼 he is just trying to push your buttons! He is too young to honestly understand the impact of his words, I know it's easier said than done but don't let it get to you. If he says it again, just respond "yes you do deep down. Kids always love their mamas, and mamas always love their kids!" And leave it at that even if he argues just laugh it off

I'm sorry sweet lady. I know that's hard but like other mamas have said he's to young to really know. Act like it doesn't effect you ( I know that is easier said than done) if he thinks it will effect you he will say it and if you act like you don't care then he may give up on saying it

@missliss, @teachermama86, thanks ladies, that makes me feel better. He's done this before but was joking about it and attacked me with hugs and kisses afterwords. This time I asked him why he said that and he said "i don't know, I just don't" so coldly. It just struck a nerve. He's napping right now so I'll see what he has to say after he wakes up. Hoping it was just a grumpy tired thing..
