So moving into this new apartment I was not pregnant. I remember landlord stating no kids , but now I am pregnant and I don't think she has noticed. Do I have to tell her ? Should I tell her ? Or should I just wait it out until she realizes we have a kid lol our contract doesn't state no kids she just said that verbally when we were looking at the place. I just hope since we are good tenants and rent is always on time she won't mind ! PS - we never even really see each other unless rent is due lol hubby works all day I guess her and her family are working all day too and I'm home but I don't make noise lol and I don't like having guest over too much :)

If it's not written in your lease agreement, in my opinion, i don't believe it's her business to HAVE to know.

That's what I was saying. Like okay she can't kick me out let's say she doesn't like that idea of having a baby in the apartment or whatever. Technically she'd have to wait til the lease expires. @susancarder,

I say to just tell her if you want and if you don't want to don't feel obligated :) all your choice!

It's illegal for her to state that you can't have kids it's against fair housing regulations and she can get in deep legal trouble if she tries to evict you because of it. The reason it's not in the lease is because legally she can't do that. Pets can not be allowed but under fair housing regulations no one can be discriminated against due to family, gender, race, etc.

Better to tell her now. It is not illegal to say she doesn't want children or pets. It is her right. So I would say something now just incase you have to move.
