New mom with a 2 week old daughter. I never thought breastfeeding would be so difficult and emotionally taxing. I find myself unable to leave the house as I'm just trying to meet her "food" demands. I've become so overwhelmed , with no time to breathe. Some people say to give a bottle with breast milk to get some sleep but is nipple confusion a real thing?
She's also gong through a growth spurt and wouldn't stop nursing all day. Normal??

I feel your pain. If she is constantly feeding that is called cluster feeding. I was unable to breast feed my older two because I gave it up so early on because of frustration. The first 6-8 weeks are the hardest for sure but if you can hang in there for sure try to. The benefits to you and baby are tremendous.

I started giving my son bottles with breast milk and breast feeding him since before we left the hospital so that my husband could bond with him. It actually worked out because I worked nights and when it came time for me to go back to work my husband was able to feed him vs my friend who exclusively breastfed and tried to give her daughter a bottle after 6mos and her daughter just refused and she had to always be around to feed her.

This is so good to hear. I'm returning to work in early June so she has to take a bottle before then to get adjusted. How many times a day did you pump?

Yes nipple confusion is a real thing. The issue with bottles is you'll still have to get up to pump or your milk supply may drop. The first three weeks were the hardest now at 7 weeks I can leave the house by myself with her and I nurse her while we are out if need be. As for cluster feeding it's a pain. The way I get through it is remembering that she will only keep growing and try to enjoy every second. I look into her eyes and talk to her. It's more enjoyable for both of us! Stay strong. You can do it!

Nipple confusion is real but not all babies are confused. My daughter is 2 months old and I introduced a paci right off in the hospital and then a few weeks later I gave her a bottle with breastmilk and she took to it right away. She's not crazy about the pacifier so I took a nipple from one of her bottles and stuffed a cotton ball into it. She liked it that way. I use Avent bottles. I went back to work and still couldn't get enough milk stored up so I had to start supplementing formula. She's doing well with it so far.
