What are the chances of coltons dad getting custody of him if i leave the relationship? i dont have a job or my own car because he said i could be a stay at home mom amd the car i use is in his name . id have to live with my grandma .
I agree with looking it up per state i beaive but not 100 the one that provides most of the financial support gets them unless proven that they are unfit but if he agrees for you to have custody with visitation then you dont have to to worry but if you feel like hes going to go for custody too then id work on finding at least a part time job
First you would have to proven unfit! Like abusive, dirty etc. judges don't care that you don't work because you can always received government help! It's difficult to prove a mother unfit. You shouldn't worry!
Alot of judges don't want to take a child away from their mother unless absolutely necessary. Unfit, abusive, etc. Just because you don't have a car or a job at the moment doesn't mean u aren't able to provide for your child. If you are thinking about leaving him start looking for a part time job but the chances of you losing your son based soley on that 0 it has to be other factors.
You'll have to look up your states individual custody laws. Some states say the main provider takes them, most say joint custody unless one parent is absolutely unable to (mental disorders, proven to be neglectful or abusive, in prison, or other serious situations), some say mother takes regardless of working status.
