I like the idea but certain people think it's okay to call themselves God parents without me & hubbys approval lol like I thought the parents pick God parents ?
From what I see, it's mostly symbolic however lawyers can get involved to make formal will arrangements. My family is not big on godparents but it is something I may explore. @teniera,
My daughters godparents are my best friend, cousin, and brother. We are in the process of writing her will but when we had her baptism, we had to fill out forms and we have a certificate with their names on it.
It use to be that the godparent would take care of the child if something happened to the parents. But you could have the godparents be whoever you want and have someone else in your will
Eh, my son has two sets. One set is pretty good while The other set not the best at all. So pick wisely. My son isn't going to them if something happens to me.
