Okay ladies, so I've decided that I don't want an epidural during my labor. No medications, as I've heard and read that it can cause so many problems for me and baby. I have, however, decided if I need fluids, I will take an IV, but if not then I just want lots and lots of ice water. Some of the reasons I say no to an epidural is because I want to be able to move around and have my partner hold me while I'm waiting to be dilated enough, and also because I've hearf it can cause complications with breastfeeding and skin to skin contact, which I want to be able to have both not too long after he's born. I just want hot and cold packs, and massages here and then. Although doing a completely natural birth scares me, I also know it'd be a million times healthier in alot of ways. Doe anyone have any suggestions that could help me? I'd love to hear from everyone!

The choice is yours momma. Ive done both ways never knew all the issues that came with it about the skin to skin and breastfeeding tho i just knew i didn't want any pain lol. The second baby came too quick so i didnt have time for an epidural it was scary never experienced pain like that and never want to again. Kudos to you for making the decision before hand. Very very brave.

Lol the whole "hangry" thing i think is something thats gonna happen to me! And i just want to be able to do everything as natural as possible, unless there's a medical reason that id absolutely need an epi for.

I thought i was gonna do it naturally until it got really painful. I asked for the epidural & had no problems during or after delivery.

One thing I didn't like about my epi aside from the back aches it has given me was not being able to move around. I also had like 5 days of contractions anywhere from every 4-15 mins before I was admitted so I think I could've done it if I was contracting for a shorter period of time. My freakin delivery room had a hot tub I couldn't even use! SMH. And the whole no eating thing made no sense to me and I was so hungry and getting mad cuz I was starving. I got "hangry" lol

Ladies, what are you opinions on the Epidural mainly(labor meds) causing Autism in children? I was watching a movie on Hulu called Pregnant in America, and according to the research that they have, meds used in labor, more so the epidural can cause Autism and other problems in the child. I was curious myself and decided to look it up and a lot of things are saying it also. I'm not sure if I believe this to be true, because I don't believe that vaccines cause Autism. and i never heard of a c section causing it either but that wasnt mentioned in the movie so forget that whole part and only focus on the labor meds part. Opinions?

I had my daughter 4years ago and I decided to get an epidural because she was my first and I was afraid of labor pains. Well with this pregnancy, when I found out it was a boy my husband and I decided this was it. No more babies. I decided since this was my last, I would go all natural to experience everything, because I heard you're more connected/engaged in the birthing process. Long story short: I'm traumatized!! That was the worse pain I've ever felt and was also the hardest thing I've ever done in my life... I loved that I was able to complete my intended plan because I was more engaged with my son but I'm glad I'm DONE! If you want to get the epidural GO FOR it, why experience that kind of pain if you don't have to!!!!

Birth Plan Rant I used to be all about getting an epidural, but after research and thinking about it more I want to have an unmedicated birth (this is my first baby). What annoys me is when I say that I'm going to TRY my hardest to have a natural and unmedicated birth people always feel the need to say that I'm crazy or that I'm going to change my mind when I get in that position. Or that epidurals are the best. I do realize that plans change, but why can't people be supportive and encouraging?
