Any ladies who have had the Mirena iud how was it? Did it hurt going in? Did you have to get it put in during your period? Was it awkward lol
It was the worst decision I ever made!! It gave me every bad side effect in the book, I only had it for a year and a half, and towards the end it caused me to have two seizures. When it was taken out everything stopped, I felt like a brand new person. I suggest you use this as a last resort
@beebaby well I had 2 C-sections so idk anything about delivering vaginally. I don't mind her going down there its just awkward.
@dreamermom every type of birth control has side effects and the only 100% way to not get pregnant is to get your tubes or uterus removed. I decided on an IUD because it fits my lifestyle best. It has low hormones. If I don't like it I'll just get it taken out. it's only for 5 years.
@beebaby really? My doctor told me it was better if I was on my period when they inserted it because my cervix would be open so it would be easier to get it in. It's just really grossing me out that someone's going to be in my vagina while I'm bleeding.
I've never personally had one... i did research on IUD's in general and decided that it was not for me... it does not prevent an egg from getting fertilized it just irritates the uterine lining to keep the fertilized egg from implanting... sometimes it does not work... and if you do get a pregnancy that actually sticks, you have to have the iud removed and it typically causes a miscarriage... I had a friend who did not realize that is how it worked... she had one for years, and at 28 had complications with hers and needed a hysterectomy... but I know some other people who love it... just do your research to see what works best for you!
I had the mirena. It doesn't hurt but yes is better if you put or take it out during your period.
