Has anyone traveled 8+ hours with a baby in the car? How did it go?🙈😅

At her age, she'll mostly sleep the whole time. The car movement and the humming noise from driving will be like sensory overload. But it helps to have someone sit in the back with her if you can to feed her, and plan to take breaks every hour or so to let her stretch outside of her seat and have her diaper changed. Keep her car seat in the seat diagonal from you so you can reach back a little safer to let her know your there (just remember to pay attention to the road 😂).

If she's still in a rear facing seat with a bar overhead, get little toys you can clip on it. Or a car "activity board" to hang on the headrest over her seat that she can kick at. Keep any of her favorite snacks in a cooler so you can sneak her some if she gets fussy. Set your car speakers to play in the front only so if you want to listen to music, it's not blasting right by her head.

It'll probably take longer than the eight hours predicted driving time, so make sure you plan for that.

We've gone 5 hours the most so far but she's been pretty good about it. She slept most of the way. Stopped a few times for diaper changes and breastfeeding but that was it. She did get cranky at times. My aunt's daughter cries even on 5 minute car trips. Every baby is different.

Mostly she just slept at that age! We set an alarm for every 3 hours to stop change her diaper and feed her... so the trip took about an hour and a half extra... but she did fine... once she got about 15 months however, it got extremely difficult... after 6 hours, no matter how much we stopped, she was extremely pissed and ready to be done with our trip! The last hour she screamed her face off! No matter what we did! But we did switch car seats... so I wonder if the new seat is not so comfy!

Traveled 19 hrs twice with my baby

Since my daughter was 4 months old, we drive 7 hours south to visit family one a month. Just make sure you pack everything you need, and I found getting a bag full of dollar tree toys (stuff she's ever seen before) and I get something new out of the bag when she starts to fuss.
