Hello ladies!! I was hoping someone can help me out. I'm currently on Medicaid (New York) and i would like to switch it over to New Jersey. How can I go about doing this and what do I need? I have a house in New York and New Jersey but I am going to be staying in New Jersey and I was going to keep it in New York but I don't want issues and I don't trust my daughters father and his sister and am worried they will say something if they don't get their way. My question is 1) how would I even begin to start the process? 2) do I have to cancel my New York Medicaid? (My daughter is only five weeks old so I don't want her to be without insurance 3) how long would this whole process take? 4) what kind of paperwork/information would I need? 5) Do I need proof of residence? If so what kind of proof? 6) legally could the father do anything if I have New York Medicaid but reside in Jersey?

I'm so anxious and stressed with all this. I am loosing the very little sleep I do get over this. Don't know what to do or how to do it!

Yes you have to cancel before you can apply elsewhere. They will not give it to you if your still active in another state. Once you get to the other state you reapply like u didnin the first state and bring the proof of cancellation letter with you.

A lot of time once u get Medicaid then they will go as far back as 3 months and cover stuff. So don't flip if you need to take the baby or yourself to the dr.

Proof of residence is going to be a lease, rental agreement, or letter from someone you're living with. I would just call, they aren't going to ask for anything real different than what NY Medicaid asked for in the beginning and will probably expedite things since you have a newborn. Just call and ask them the process. Legally the father can probably only report you but if you just say you recently moved they aren't gonna do anything. People move all the time. Don't stress just call them up.

How do some of you moms feel about the new law in New Jersey that schools are now required to teach children about the gay community starting in 2020 ??
