My husband and I did this. The rings are just a symbol of our love for each other it doesn't have to cost an arm and a leg. Besides my husband said maybe in future anniversaries we can gift each other better ones maybe after 10 years to make it special or something.

Money spent means nothing on our wedding day my husband didn't even have a ring so my daughter who had gotten a little $.25 ring gave it to him and it meant more than any wedding band I could have gotten him
