I let my son figure out his own schedule and with breastfeeding and co-sleeping I decided the CIO method was not for us. By about 3 months he had a pretty good schedule going and then when he was 6 months it changed a little. Usually he wakes up around 10:30am, takes a nap around 1pm, then takes his last power nap around 6 and he's asleep by 11pm. Sometimes he will go to sleep later and wake up later and that's ok with me, I've learned that having a lenient schedule has worked for us. Of course babies feel more comfortable and secure on a schedule and that's why I plan our days around the times I know he likes to nap and our day to day routine is very similar each day.

I honestly didn't purposely put him on a schedule it kinda just happened. 🙆🏻 His schedule now consists of strictly no naps after 5:30 pm because then he's all wired up lol. But he started waking up at 8ish for a bottle then back to sleep anywhere from10-11 then he's up & takes a nap around 1 or 2 then after that sometimes at 4 but if not then that's it no more naps. He'll eat snacks throughout the day along with his scheduled bottles. He'll be asleep by 9pm. Unless his schedule is thrown off 😩😩 Just try different methods and see which one works best for your baby 😌🙊 what may work for some, may not work for others so just try different timings :)

I let my son figure out his own schedule(sort of) when he was born until he was 2 weeks old he would fall asleep between 10 and 11 wake up twice to nurse and be changed. When he had to start being FF at 2 weeks, he started falling asleep every night at 1145 waking up once for a bottle and a new diaper. Then he changed it up again at around 2 and a half months to falling asleep anywhere between 8 and 10 and NEVER waking up for a bottle or to be changed. He sleeps through the night in his own bed, occasionally he does wake up for bottle and a new diaper but it happens he's only 3 months old so i expect it. But i didn't ever force a schedule on him i just figured out what he was doing then kept that routine for him. He's been on the same schedule since he was 2 months old and hasn't wanted to do anything different. I was NEVER stressed out about his routine because i never forced one with him.

I started mine 4 days old and she was on a schedule by 2 weeks old and sleeping through the night by 3. But every kid is completely different and won't adjust to a sleeping schedule like others
Good luck mama!

@elise305, of course! A lot of people don't agree with cry it out, but done properly there is absolutely nothing wrong with it! You'll figure it out! Congrats on your little one!

@elise305, FF is formula fed. Our breastfeeding journey was a sad, short one(she didn't learn to latch, and my supply was pitiful)so we switched to formula at 3.5 months. Yes, playtime does mean an outing, or just playing on the floor at home. Sleep training is getting the baby to put themselves to sleep. We used the Ferber Method(a form of controlled cry it out) I was never a fan of cry it out, but this really helped us. I didn't do that until 6 months old though. Schedule can be super important, but some babies just do better figuring out their own pattern. I like structure, so my daughter liking structure doesn't surprise me. I didn't really read a book, but I did do a bit of research on the Ferber Method. I just followed her cues and we fell into a rhythm. Some nights aren't perfect, but I get at least 6 solid hours of sleep a night!

We did it every night. It signaled her body to start getting sleepy.
During the day I went based on when she got tired until we figured out what her nap times were and we had a bottle and rocked to sleep then put in her crib or napped on me if I wanted cuddles (: feel free to pm me any time if you have questions or just want to talk!❤

Ok. Was that done every night? Also, what did you do for a schedule during the day?

Look up gentle sleep training if you're worried about them having problems. But please don't try cio until a year if you want to do that! There are tips and tricks you can try to help them sleep but the first 3 months are the 4th trimester and theyre definitely dependent on having you close so I recommend not sleep training till after that!

I was! Started formula feeding at 8 weeks though because supply dried up. I either gave a bath or put lavender lotion on, then we read a book, nursed/had a bottle, and I rocked her to sleep or close to sleep and put her down with the sound machine on (:

We worked on a schedule around 3 months(also FTM). Around then, we started dressing for the day at a certain time, tried to make naps at a certain time, and feedings we just did on demand. At 6 months we did sleep training. My LO will be 9 months on Saturday and she is on a very regimented schedule. Up by 7, bottle and diaper, breakfast at 8:30, diaper change, playtime, another bottle and diaper at 10:30, nap time from 11-1, bottle and diaper, playtime and bottle until 5:30, then dinner, bath, half a bottle and bed by 7 pm. Life sucks when she gets thrown off the schedule. But not all babies respond that well to structure. Mine is FF so that helps a lot

I started at 4 weeks. We had a routine set and she started sleeping through the night at 6 weeks, I totally credit our routine to helping that
