I actually just got my voucher recently. For him to live with you, you HAVE to go through it the proper way and let management and whoever is in charge of your voucher know. At least here (and I'm assuming there too), you'll get terminated from the program for having him live there without them knowing once they find out. And just to warn you, it can take years to get approved. I'm assuming you might be placed higher on the list because you have kids, but it takes time. And I'm not trying to be a b!tch, I just don't want y'all to get into trouble.

Yeah, when I went to the meeting last month to get my voucher, the woman went over things, including what could get you terminated. She said that it's usually someone close to you who will end up ratting you out. And if he'd be getting mail there, having the cops called, etc., they'll be able to access that information and you're in trouble. I'm not sure how much he makes or if you have to be married in order to apply together, but that might work. With both of you on it, the maximum income allowed would be lower. If you think you'll want to get into section 8 housing in the future, apply long before you would want to move into a place because there's not really a way to tell how long it'll take you to get your voucher if you're approved. Even before you get the voucher (like when you find out you're getting it, if not a little sooner (, start trying to find a place. Low income housing, at least here, tends to have long wait lists to get in. If you are going to get a place, make sure you find out from management if you meet their qualifications before you pay any application fees so you're not wasting money.

If you get section 8 he can't live with you unless you let them know and they'll include his income if not you can get in serious trouble they could cancel your section 8 you can have to go to jail or pay back or just they kick you out and you can never get back on
