I feel like I sheltered my daughter to much. She was never really around other babies & barely let family take her. She has always been around just me & her dad but he works a lot. So now she's 1 & she barely pays the other kids any attention, shy & really doesn't want anybody but me. She will play but she will play alone & she chooses to observe the other kids rather than play with them. Has anyone had this problem

My oldest was like this too. I'd say just keep giving g her chances to interact with other kids. It's normal for one year olds to participate in side by side play with other children meaning they are comfortable playing near them but not always with them. Also, it may be a personality thing. My oldest son is 15 now and he's still pretty reserved. He likes being around other kids but he's also independent and quiet, especially in groups.

Same with my youngest. The only kid interaction she gets is with her sisters and their friends.
