My baby's temp is 37.3, should I give him something?
@loving-life, probably because its considered a low-grade fever. Keep in mind itreally more than just numbers and how are babies are acting. Aka the 'mother's gut feeling'. Have a good night ladies.
I think that's just a really low fever @loving-life, Tylenol doesn't seem to make it go down tho, so I'm not sure
When my baby's temperature was 37.4 my doctor said it's absolutely normal
Thanks @tugbavv, I might try the onions tomorrow, I'd much rather do that than medicate him
Mayoclinic.org says;
Your child has a fever if he or she:
Has a rectal, ear or temporal artery temperature of 100.4 F (38 C) or higher
Has an oral temperature of 100 F (37.8 C) or higher
Has an armpit temperature of 99 F (37.2 C) or higher
So it wont hurt to treat. Plus its bed time so it might be difficult to monitor while you or he is sleeping. Advil has a much lasting effect, best solution for the night. If you are into herbal remedies; onions under the feet are magical. If you put a sock over it'll bring the temperature back down and kill any bacteria :))))
Thanks @tugbavv, I've been doing it under the arm. He's been staying around the same temp, but he is extremely uncomfortable
Depends from where you got the temp. If done rectally that is NOT NEAR a fever. No need for anything. Underarm or ear i would not treat it but keep a close eye on it.
My daughter is epileptic and seizes with fevers. Doctor recommendation is it IS NOT A FEVER UNTIL 38 degrees rectally
Yea @kalloosit, it's warm bath that is helpful, or cool clothes, as long as baby doesn't get a chill. Thankfully his temp went back down overnight
Cold showers raise the internal temperature as the body fights to get warmer. It causes more hard than good.
My mom said she would take cold showers with me when I had high temps as a little baby. Hope all is well soon.
Yeah. Me too. I never give the full recommended dose .. I give half (especially after needles) .. and then the other half if I feel nothing is getting better after an hour or 2.
Ok thank you, I'm always scared of giving him anything :( @tlistboom,
Under 38 is normal!! 😊
